Kentucky is a vast region of industries from agriculture, engineering, technology, development, and more. As a professor of business and economics, I believe that Kentucky’s best days are ahead but we need strong leaders and visionaries to make our state and region better than what it has been.
That’s why, as a candidate for State Representative, one of my key legislative goals is to draft and pass the Kentucky Innovation Act.
I want to focus on making Kentucky the epicenter for innovation and entrepreneurship so that our state’s economy can soar!
My goal is to strengthen its technology economy with an emphasis on engineering, business start-ups, and corporate headquarters.
To accomplish this, my plan focuses on four pillars:
Tax Reform
Kentucky’s tax structure is not competitive with other states and we see companies moving and choosing to locate elsewhere. We also know that our Income and Sales taxes are higher than neighboring states.
Regulation Reform
Kentucky needs to aggressively evaluate regulations on businesses and other entities to ensure that regulations are needed. If they aren’t needed or burdensome or have a negative impact, then they should be abolished.
Strengthen Economic and Financial Literacy Education
Kentucky’s youth need to be prepared to enter the workforce and adulthood with an understanding of personal finances, economics, and more. I want to also encourage young people to pursue more entrepreneurial pursuits.
Promote A Network of Makerspaces and Business Incubators
Kentucky needs to establish a network of innovation centers, maker spaces, and business incubation centers to further enhance Kentucky’s innovative ecosystem. These centers would be focused on the local community and community run.
I believe that these four pillars will help grow Kentucky’s innovative culture, and help develop Kentucky into the epicenter of entrepreneurship and innovation in the nation.
