Gary Stratton, as an educator, innovator, and and community activist, is seeking to represent the 57th Kentucky House District, which is most of Franklin County, KY.
Stratton was born and raised in Mercer County Kentucky, and learned the values of hard work, persistence, and honesty, integrity and respect.
After graduating high school he graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Economics. He then pursued advanced studies in Economics, earning a Master’s Degree in Economics from Murray State University, and then finally earning a Ph.D in Economics

Gary is an associate professor at Kentucky State University, where he teaches on economics, economic literacy, entrepreneurship, and business. With his background, he wants to make Frankfort and Franklin County a more dynamic and exciting place to live, with opportunity, prosperity, and growth.
Other notable facts: Gary became a Christian at the age of 11 during summer Bible School at Bethel Baptist Church in Mercer County. His faith has always and will continue to be an important part of his life. He is a long time Kiwanian and in the past year joined the Rotary Club of Frankfort. Gary has also been involved in several business and non-profits, such as the Foundation for Appalachian Advancement and Capital Living (which a group of us in Frankfort are working to bring the site back to its prominent role in the area just has when Ms. April Cole ran Capital Living). Most recently Gary has been instrumental to the development of the Franklin Center for Innovation, the first business incubator every in the city of Frankfort.
